(July, 23). Egypt is celebrating its anniversary of the day it became a republic, celebrating the day when all Egyptians had drawn many dreams and hoped it would come true. Also celebrating the day in which many promises were told to the Egyptian people, by the Egyptian rulers throughout these years. Do I have to express my happiness and thrill because of the anniversary of my beloved country? And because of the declaration of freedom and gaining the rights for all the Egyptian people. Or Do I have to say “Adieus amigos” to such beautiful republic? Egypt is celebrating this day while hundreds of Egyptians can not find clean water to drink, while other hundreds of workers all over the country are protesting for having their legal rights of a safe working environment, suitable wages, and stability in the working conditions. Many families and children of reformers, who dearly love Egypt, from the Muslim Brotherhood or others, are spending their days without their beloved ones who are now behind the bars of tyranny and suppression. Ikhwanweb wanted to celebrate this day with other Egyptians, hoping for a brighter future for Egypt. And concerning this issue, Ikhwanweb had this statement from Mr. Rafeeq Habeeb, in which he said, He clarified, “The revolution has erupted in order to achieve independence. But now we notice that the political decisions in Egypt are no more independent at all. We could rather say it’s under an indirect imperialism and colonialism.” He added, “It also erupted to achieve progress and development. It had been building and digging its path between Socialism and Capitalism, the thing which caused the change and contradiction of many policies. And also this resulted in losing the accumulated achievements of each period alone, as each period totally ended the one before it.” He also said, “One of the main goals of this revolution was to strengthen the ties between Arabs, reinforce the Arab unity, and affect the Arab nationalism positively. However, we find ourselves now reaching an Egyptian role which strengthens and deepens divisions and disunity between Arabs.” “Also one of the main goals of the revolution was achieving the social justice allover Egypt, and decreasing the differences between different social classes. Today, when you look at Egypt, you find out that we’ve reached a real high standard of social discrimination, and even the middle classes are diminishing day by day, and most of them fall into the lower poor classes, only a few of them succeed to attach to the upper classes. “One of the main principles based on the revolution was achieving Democracy. Democracy was confirmed firmly and applied at the beginning. However, at the 21st century, it became a strictly- chained Democracy with a rope that just made it the other face, form of tyranny and injustice.” He concluded, “For all these reasons, I really believe that the revolution has indeed ended. And it destroyed itself through eating her children, getting rid of its distinguished figures and leaders, and gave all what she had to a group of opportunists, who seem to be those who built the country and had a real role in the revolution, but in fact, they are only the group which has taken over the country and the revolution, and may be destroyed them both.” Mr. Abdel-Ghaffar Shokr, a member in Kefaya, commented on the 55th anniversary of the Egyptian revolution saying, “Undoubtly, the revolution has had many good effects which raised the status of Egypt a lot. Egypt also had a distinguished influential regional role, it has helped many Arab countries under the ruling of the former President Gamal Abdul-Nasser. Egypt has helped other Arab countries to get rid of colonization, and guaranteed the end of foreign control and supremacy.” “Also the promises of social justice and harmony, and having an independent national economy have all totally vaporized. We can clearly see this in the wide gap between different social classes, and the daily increase of poverty in Egypt. It’s note worthy that the rate of poverty has increased to more than 50 percent, as well as the unemployment which is in continuous increase… all these are a result of such shortage and failure in economic plans.” He said, “Also beside the absence of social development and the lack of independent development in side the country, we now notice a great trend, especially with the public sector foundations and banks, towards dealing with foreigners, a thing with may cause the foreign control on the Egyptian economy.” |
