2000 Journalists Demand Military Detainee Ahmed Ezzuddin Released

Makram Mohamed Ahmed, the new chairman of the press syndicate, called for immediately releasing fellow journalist Ahmed Ezzuddin, the editor-in-chief of the suspended Al Shaab newspaper and one of 40 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) leaders referred to a military tribunal following an athletic show performed at Al-Azhar University in December 2006.
This demand was issued on the sidelines of the press syndicate elections held on Saturday. Makram signed along with two thousand other journalists a joint document demanding fellow journalist Ahmed Ezzuddin released from Torah farm prison to end this military farce, according to them.
The journalists gathered two thousands signatures from members of the general assembly who declared their full rejection to detaining any journalist due to any intellectual or political affiliations.
The signatories demanded the new chairman and their elected syndicate board called for taking positive moves to support Ezzuddin and exercise pressures on the regime to release him. They also declared their rejection to the decision leaving his name off the list of candidates .
