Statement of Freedom and Justice Party National Committee on Saturday Meeting Resolutions
Translation of the Freedom and Justice Party’s National Committee statement regarding its meeting Saturday and resolutions thereof.

 The Freedom and Justice Party (FJP)’s National Committee in its meeting on Saturday, September 29, 2012 issued the following resolutions and decisions:

1. Adoption of the Executive Office resolution declaring that the FJP Chairman post is free following Dr. Mohamed Morsi’s victory as President of the Republic, and opening the window of nominations for the position of party chairman. The elections are to be held at the FJP General Conference, which will convene in a special extraordinary meeting.

2. Adoption of the Executive Office resolution declaring the formation of a committee to oversee the FJP Chairman elections, headed by Hussein Mohamed Ibrahim, member of the Executive Office, with membership comprising: Dr. Mohamed Abdul-Ghani (Al-Sharqiya Province), Dr. Akram Al-Shaer (Port Said Province), Karem Radwan (Cairo), Sayyid Azab Mostafa (Giza), Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi (Gharbiya), Raafat Abed (Suez).

3. Calling for a General Conference special extraordinary meeting on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 1 pm to elect a chairman for the party. If there is no quorum, a second meeting is to be held two hours later.

4. Approving the party's strategy for the upcoming parliamentary elections, namely: to run for most of the seats whatever the electoral system, and coordination and alliance with other political parties and independent personalities according to realities of the situation and according to the electoral system that will be used for said parliamentary elections.

5. Announcing standards of eligibility for selection of candidates for the upcoming elections, the most important of which is satisfying legal requirements, commitment to FJP principles and program, being an active member of the party, proven interest in public affairs, and having excellent communication and public persuasion skills. The National Committee further announced the personal, moral and military criteria for selecting nominees.

6. The National Committee discussed the report of the committee formed to oversee the proposed electoral system, and instructed the committee to reconvene for adoption of a complementary legal insight, to open a dialogue with the presidency, the government, political parties and jurists about the law governing parliamentary elections so it would be free of any constitutional flaws.

7. Promotion of Dr. Amr Darrag and Ms. Seham Al-Gamal to membership of the Executive Office, to occupy the two vacant seats. Their membership period is a complement of their predecessors’ membership period.
