Ihab Fahmi, a spokesman for the Presidency, in response to a question from the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Saturday evening, said that the Presidency sent a delegate to warmly receive the Sawiris family upon arrival in Egypt.

"This gesture carries a positive message that Egypt welcomes all honest businessmen who do their duty towards their homeland and seek to settle their disputes with state authorities, opening up new avenues for investment and advancement of the national economy."

Naguib Sawiris’ family arrived on a private jet from France, after their names were lifted from the lists of those barred from travel, following the agreement reached by Orascom Construction Industries with the Egyptian Tax Authority.

The Sawiris family said it was to head for their El Gouna tourist village in Hurghada.
