A cancer patient and another suffering from kidney failure died in Gaza Monday night due to lack of proper treatment in the Strip and the IOF closure of all crossings surrounding it, which barred those patients and many others from leaving for treatment abroad.

Medical sources said that Atiya Joda, 57, died of kidney failure after his condition rapidly deteriorated.

The sources also said that the young woman Mirvat Hijazi, 25, died of cancer after long suffering from that serious disease.

Khaled Radi, the spokesman of the PA health ministry in Gaza, told daily Palestine newspaper that the IOF tight siege on the Strip has turned into a ghost threatening the life of tens of seriously ill Palestinians who are barred from travel outside the Strip for treatment.

He accused the illegitimate government of Salam Fayyad in Ramallah of direct involvement in the siege after the health official in that government, Fathi Abu Mughli, refused to sign agreements that would supply Gaza with medicines.

Relatives of the young woman said that they contacted numerous local centers, human rights groups and international organizations to find a way out of Gaza for their daughter but the IOF troops turned down efforts in this regard citing "trivial security pretexts".
